Saturday evening, December 6th, St. Francis held it’s annual Tree lighting.
Following the 5:00 pm Mass, parishioners gathered in the church hall to meet, greet, and raise voices together in song. Though raining outside, all were warm and filled with joy and fellowship inside.
Members of the Choir led the group in Christmas carols while the Women’s Guild treated everyone to hot chocolate and cookies. Saint Nicholas made a surprise appearance and gifted all with candy canes.
The official tree lighting came at the end of the evening. We gathered together, tightly packed at the entrance to the church; protected from the rain by the roof and each other. Carmen was chosen to flip the switch, lighting our tree.
This year our tree has been topped with a beautiful star, to shine in the darkness, reminding us on the One shining for each of us, guiding us as we journey Home. Have a Blessed Advent, everyone, as we wait in Joyful Hope for the One who is to come, for the One who is always coming!
