This Lent, children in one of our 5th grade religious education classes thoughtfully reached out to our homebound parishioners by creating special “blessing bags.”
Each bag was lovingly created by our students and filled with useful supplies, such as: kleenex, hand wipes, emery boards, chapstick, and candy…. The bags were blessed during Palm Sunday Mass, and were distributed to each of our homebound parishioners during Holy Week.
One of our Homebound Eucharistic Ministers shared his experience handing out the bags: “In each case, they (parishioners) were delighted and thankful. Their faces really lit up when they got the bags. It was really nice to see their reaction. They greatly appreciated being remembered by the young people, and the parish. They each asked me to thank whoever participated.”
“Although I see them almost every week, additional reminders of our parish’s link to them and our prayers for them is always reassuring and gratefully accepted by them.”
