SFX Social Outreach Garden

Our mission:
To produce fresh vegetables to nourish the most marginalized members of our community. 100% of the vegetables grown in the St. Francis outreach garden are donated to our local soup kitchen, Loaves and Fishes.

What do garden ministry members do?
April: We typically meet to layout the new garden. The soil is fertilized and tilled in preparation for planting.
May: Seeds are planted early in the month, plants are planted towards the end of the month. Daily watering schedule is begun.
June: Typically St. Francis holds a community blessing of the garden. Watering and weeding continues, harvesting as needed.
Summer – Sept: Watering, weeding, and harvesting as needed. Food deliveries to loaves and fishes made by volunteers, after vegetables have been counted and weighed.
